Day and Night Miles

In July, Cadieux Bicycle Club will again host the annual DAY & Night MILES Ride in honor and memory of Miles Levin who passed away from rhabdomyosarcoma in 2007. This event is a fundraiser for the Sarcoma Society and offers a unique ride venue. Riders convene at the Derby School in Birmingham where a rabbinic blessing starts off the ride. Attendence of over 130 riders is common, and four ride groups are offered for every level of bicyclist. Racers and strong riders head out on the traditional Tuesday evening Derby route; other rides follow along similar roads towards Oakland University and Chrysler Tech Center. A ‘novice’ ride travels 15 miles on low traffic roads for a memorable jaunt, primarily in Bloomfield Hills. After, for those experienced, riders swap to mountain and cross bikes with lights to ride about 25 or more miles, making a riding metaphor that while we ride this day and night 24/7, we note that people with cancer – and their families – endure their illnesses all day and all night. Donations are suggested.
